
Hiking/Biking Trails
This 46 acre site is a reforested wetland. Located within the city limits of Hagerstown, the disturbed area was saved from the bulldozer through the passionate efforts of nearby resident, Steve Swoveland. Thousands of trees have been planted in the river valley area to help it return to its natural state. 1 mile mowed hiking path.

Cycling and Fitness Warehouse, on S. 3rd in Richmond, across from the Cardinal Greenway, rents free bikes. They also rent helmets and locks. Bikes are available on a 1st come 1st served basis.

Brookville Lake is situated in the picturesque Whitewater River Valley with traces of prehistorical Indian mounds known for their archaeological significance. Something for everyone. Brookville has a 5,260 acre lake that is great for fishing complete with 10 ramps around the lake and four marinas. There are picnic and camping areas, beaches, and cabins for rent.
Get back to nature along Indiana's longest paved rails-trails which spans 62 miles from Richmond through Muncie to Marion, Indiana. The terrain is gentle, for hikers, joggers, cyclists, skaters, and outdoor enthusiasts. No Bike, No Problem . . . Cycling & Fitness Warehouse offers FREE bike rental and is located one block south of the Greenway trailhead.

The features found on this 466 acre property include 3% of Indiana's old growth forest, acres of reforested woods, several miles of hiking trails and running paths, Adena and Hopewell Indian mounds, ponds, fields, wetlands, and mountain biking trails. Together there are 16 miles of trails, 7.5 miles of which are Mountain Bike Trails.

The Richmond Bike Loop is a protected bike path that takes you through Richmond's downtown and Depot Districts as well as connecting to the Whitewater Gorge. The Bike Path provides space that is used for bicycles and is separated from motor vehicle travel lanes, parking lanes and sidewalks.
The brand new Riverside Heritage Trail is a must see beautiful 1 mile stretch of paved trail that is still a work in progress but safe to use, relaxing, cool, and ready for you. The trailhead is located at North 17th and North J Streets.
Along this paved trail through the historic gorge area, hikers, cyclists and nature lovers will be able to explore the geological and historical significance of the Whitewater Gorge, as well as its natural rugged beauty. Fossils found along the trail are from animals that lived about 450 million years ago on the bottom of a warm shallow sea that covered this area. Free.
This 200-acre Whitewater Lake offers kayaks, paddle boats, rowboats, canoe rental, electric trolling motor boating. Fishing, swimming, horseback riding, picnicking, campground, shelters, and family cabins are also available. Accessible to Brookville Reservoir. Open year round. Admission charged.
