Come out for the Historic Newport Walking Tour. The historic community of Newport, Indiana (now Fountain City), was well known in the decades before the Civil War as a place of safety for freedom-seekers, or runaway slaves. On this half-mile walking tour, we’ll visit locations in town and learn how Newport worked together as part of the Underground Railroad. Registration required one day prior to the program. Admission: $5/person, $10/family of four or more.
