Gospel music will fill the dramatic vaulted ceiling of The Reid Center (formerly the Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church) at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7. Members of The Dayton Chapter of The Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. (GMWA) will present a concert, which requires tickets. The 70-member group is celebrating its 50th year in the international musical organization, which was founded in 1967 by the Rev. James Cleveland. GMWA’s purpose is to promote African-American gospel music through academics, workshops, performances, and new artist development.Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online ($0.95 convenience fee) at https://buytickets.at/thereidcenter1?ref=fb, in person at the Old National Road Welcome Center, 5701 National Road East, Richmond, IN or at the door, if there are still available tickets. Doors open at 3:30 for the 4 pm performance. Mark your calendars - you will not want to miss these amazing performances! Parking: On-street parking is available along North A, 10th St, and 11th St. There is a lot north of the church accessible from the alley between 10th and 11th Streets. The municipal parking lot on 10th St. between Main and North A is a short walk. Accessibility: The historic church presents a number of accessibility challenges. The south entrance (along North A Street) has an accessible ramp to the door. Once inside, there is a stairway of about 8 steps to the main level. On the left is a handrail, and on the right is a lift chair. The only restroom on the main level is not wheelchair accessible.
